Welder I & II

Reporting to: Working Foreman, Fab Shop

Division: Welding

Our strengths encompass the complete spectrum from heavy metal fabrication, heavy machining, turnkey assembly to light precision machining and fabrication as well as precision sheet metal fabrication. Our customers range from small and/or start-up companies to world class suppliers of OEM capital equipment and machinery. Our headquarters and manufacturing facility is located in Richmond, B.C. Canada.


As a Welder, you will be performing various forms of welding processes according to WPS, the Manufacturing and Inspection plans and customer specifications.


Technical Experience:


· CWB welder qualifications or equivalent

· A minimum of 3 years welding experience required

· Experience using the following welding techniques and processes:

o Flat and horizontal position in GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding and Metal Cored)

o FCAW (Flux Cored Arc Welding


· Experience with medium to heavy metal fabrication

· Experience using the following welding techniques and processes:

o SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding)

o TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas)

o SAW (Sub Arc Welding) and GTAW (Gas Tungsten Arc Welding experience is considered an asset (may be required for some projects).

o Stainless steel welding and aluminum welding

· Forklift and overhead crane certification



Main Responsibilities:

· Using MIG welder (or other appropriate equipment) to weld fabricated metal products in an efficient manner to maximize production.

· Producing strong penetrated welds that are smooth, non-porous, and consistent.

· Reading and interpreting drawings, welding processes and welding specifications.

· Welding to customer specifications with little to no immediate supervision.

· Operating manual or semi-automatic or fully automated welding equipment.

· Operating turn tables, rolls, oxygen cutting equipment and hoisting and lifting equipment.

· Maintaining/producing a level of output that will minimize production delays.

· Communicating effectively with other workers to direct personal workflow.

· Operating the equipment in a safe manner and reporting hazards associated with the equipment or its operators to appropriate Supervisor.

· Assisting other individuals in area when needed.

· Cleaning and maintaining an orderly work area.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Brazing and Soldering skills an asset

· Broad knowledge of welding techniques, processes, equipment, and metallurgy.

· Knowledge in operating turn tables and rolls.

· Knowledge in operating Air – gouging equipment (Arc Air - gouging).

· Knowledge in operating and handling hoisting equipment and overhead cranes.

· Math skills including fractions and angles.

· Ability to weld vertical, flat, and overhead welds with a good penetration and a quality appearance.

· Ability to understand and interpret welding process specifications, welding symbols and blueprints.

· Ability to read tape measures and angle finders.

· Ability to examine welds to ensure that they meet standards and specifications.

· Ability to communicate effectively in English (reading, writing and speaking) to Supervisors and other related departments.

· Ability to lift or move 50 lbs. or more.

· Ability to operate acetylene torches.

· Physical ability to work and weld in awkward positions such as kneeling, lying down, and overhead.

· Ability to climb and work from a ladder
