Production Plant Manager

Mitrex, an Integrated solar and construction solution provider, is looking for a “hands-on” plant manager with 10+ years of experience running a state-of-the-art production facility. We are looking for someone who has extensive experience in high technology manufacturing—ideally from the solar panel, composite cladding or glazing industries.

  • A BSc degree in process/industrial/mechanical engineering, industrial management, or a related business or technical degree.
  • A minimum of 10+ years in foundational manufacturing experience within industrial / high-volume manufacturing including extensive experience in continuous improvement, engineering, production and materials management.
  • Must have 3-5 years experience with SCADA systems troubleshooting (MODBUS, OPC/UA, HMI’s, PLC, DCS, Automation Ignition)
  • Experience in build-to-order manufacturing
  • A good track record for making substantial improvements in operational performance
  • The ability to lead and manage production support teams
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Extensive health and safety procedures and systems



  • Setting up and managing our new automated and semi-automated production facility for Building Integrated Photovoltaic [BIPV] cladding, composite cladding panels and solar glass [see,]
  • Develop, oversee and optimize the production process and flow
  • Develop and oversee the quality control process
  • Help to develop and manage the production team to ensure accurate and timely production schedules
  • Application experience with world-class manufacturing techniques including Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and its framework of procedures and techniques [such as Sigma Six and Lean Manufacturing].
  • Develop the framework and structure for new plants using our Toronto production facility as the model.
  • Oversee and manage the health, safety, and environmental responsibilities of the plant, including working conditions
  • Develop and oversee the performance measures of individuals and teams
  • Develop training systems for standardized work procedures, quality, environmental management, WHMIS, and job safety



  • Salary of $100k-$140k/year depending on experience, skill sets, and capabilities plus BONUS based on performance
